Ken & Melvin – Bennetts Fields, South Ockendon

Ken & Melvin Bennetts Fields

Having previously lived in a rental flatshare in South East London, NHS nurses Kenneth Cerbo, 32 and Melvin Derupe, 36, decided it was time to buy their own place.

As soon as the couple viewed a two-bedroom apartment at the Bennett’s Fields development in South Ockendon, they reserved straight away and got the keys to their dream place within 8 weeks.

Kenneth told us: “Although we both work at a hospital in Brixton, buying in London was out of the question as you get so much less for your money.

“Bennett’s Fields development is perfect for us. Out of all the homes we viewed, these apartments were by far the highest quality and felt more homely than other new builds.

“We have so much space in our new apartment! Not only can we fit a king size bed in our main bedroom but we still have lots of room for other furniture. The fact that we have two bathrooms including an ensuite is a huge plus, and hard to find in two-bedroom flats.”

Melvin added: “We decided to go for a new-build apartment as we are both really busy with work and wanted somewhere which required less maintenance. One of our favourite features is the bigger windows. They let in so much natural light and we get a lovely view of the sun setting over the Country Park opposite us.

“The location of Bennett’s Fields is ideal for commuting. It’s only 30 minutes into central London on the c2c train, but it feels like we are surrounded by the open countryside.”

Kenneth continues: “The sales team were also brilliant. As first-time buyers, we weren’t sure what the process would be like, but it felt like we didn’t even lift a finger!”
