I joined St. Modwen in 2016 as one of the only planners, and have since progressed to Pre-Construction Head of Planning. If I had to put it simply, I love my job. I get to be involved in the development of sites from start to finish – it’s so rewarding.
One of my first projects was at Victoria Park – we secured consent for residential development and managed to secure funding to divert the River Trent. We worked with the local school, who didn’t have any green space, and developed it into sports pitches for them – it was a huge benefit for the children.
I went on maternity leave in 2018 and was genuinely amazed by the support throughout my time away. There was absolutely no suggestion that taking a break and having a family would in any way set back my career. I’m now working to ensure that all mothers, fathers and those on adoption leave get the same support that I did. I’m proud to say that the work we’ve done has earned us the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Company Award at this year’s The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Awards.
I know there is so much more to come in my career at St. Modwen and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.
