Career opportunities at Thomas Telford UTC

On Tuesday 22nd September, two representatives from St. Modwen Homes were invited to a ‘We Want You’ employer event for pupils at Thomas Telford University Technical College.

The virtual event was aimed at Year 11 and 13 students and gave them the opportunity to gain an insight into potential roles available to them across various sectors. St. Modwen Homes’ Early Careers and Training Coordinator, Alison Tucker and Apprentice Site Manager, Dylan Stephenson, outlined the range of opportunities available in construction at St. Modwen Homes, as well as the routes to achieving these goals.

“We are passionate about giving students the guidance and support they need to kickstart an exciting career in construction. Career events like this are a great way to do this, as they allow students to hear from real-life companies that could potentially be their future employers.

“We’d like to thank Thomas Telford University Technical College for having us and we hope that the pupils were inspired by the event”

Clare Furness, HR Business Partner

Claire Gleeson, Leader of Safeguarding and Student welfare, said:

“In recent months we’ve seen a lot of things put on hold, but we didn’t want to risk losing our careers and employer engagement event. The virtual talk was fantastic! Our pupils were given real insight from each employer on the different career paths on offer and how to achieve their goals.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to St. Modwen Homes, Midland Metro Alliance, BAM, Baily Garner, MDFitout and the University of Wolverhampton for their presentations, it has been really well received by our pupils.”
