St. Modwen Homes helps spread Christmas cheer in Burslem

Local community action group, Our Burslem, has received a fundraising boost of £550 from St. Modwen Homes, in their quest to spread much needed festive cheer in Stoke-on-Trent this year. The donation was used to purchase a Christmas tree and lights, helping to brighten Burslem town centre.

Set up in 2011, Our Burslem is now backed by thousands of residents who care passionately about their neighbourhood. The group usually holds events throughout the year to raise money for Burslem’s Christmas festivities, but the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to their 2020  fundraising plans.

June Cartwright from Our Burslem, said: “This year has been difficult for many, so we’re delighted that Christmas in Burslem is not cancelled! Although our usual Christmas lights switch-on event wasn’t possible this year, we organised a live video stream of the show on Friday 11th December. Without all of the donations we received, we simply wouldn’t have been able to cover the costs for the tree, lights and the electricity bill. We can’t thank St. Modwen Homes enough for their kind contribution.”

Dave Smith, Managing Director at St. Modwen Homes, said: “As a responsible housebuilder, it is important for us to support initiatives that matter to our residents. While the country prepares itself for a very different Christmas this year, events like these are vital for lifting community spirit. On behalf of everyone at St. Modwen Homes, I’d like to wish everyone in Stoke-on-Trent a very Merry Christmas and a  happy New Year.”

St. Modwen Homes is currently building an array of two, three and four-bedroom properties at the former Royal Doulton Pottery site in Burslem. To enquire about the new homes available at Kiln Gate, please contact the Sales Consultants on 0333015663, or click here
