Greenlight for 56 new apartments in Longbridge Town Centre

Longbridge Apartment Render

We have secured approval for 56 new apartments in Longbridge Town Centre following a virtual hearing of Birmingham City Council’s Planning Committee on Thursday 30 July. The committee made a unanimous decision and resolved to grant permission – subject to conditions and an S106 Agreement.

The ‘L’ shaped building will be set over four floors, with a 5th storey on the corner elevation. The scheme will include a mix of 35 two-bedroom apartments and 21 one-bedroom apartments, each finished with a balcony or terrace space.

Constructed primarily from brick in a range of grey, silver and blue shades, the building has been designed in our modernistic style –reflecting the adjacent commercial, retail and residential facades.

Located within Longbridge Town Centre, residents to our new scheme benefit from an array of shopping and leisure facilities all overlooking the beautiful Austin Park.

The scheme is close to excellent transport links to Birmingham via Longbridge train station – offering direct access to the city centre in around 20 minutes. Additionally, it is close to the A38 and associated bus routes and National Cycle Route 5 (NCR5).

Dave Smith, Managing Director at St. Modwen Homes, said:

“Housebuilding is at the very forefront of the economy – now more than ever. So we’re delighted to receive the unanimous decision from Birmingham City Council for our new apartments in Longbridge Town Centre.

“Not only is Longbridge one of St. Modwen’s most successful urban regeneration projects, but it is also our home. It is such an honour to bring our contemporary style and thoughtful approach to home design to the area at last.”

The development will include 10% affordable housing priced at a 20% discount of the market sale values. Along with the apartments, the scheme will include 28 car parking spaces and secure storage parking for 56 bicycles.
