Dursley-based charity receive a £1,500 donation

We recently donated £1,500 to Artlift, a charity based just 0.4 miles away from our Littlecombe development.

By selling the furniture from one of our showhomes, we raised money which was subsequently donated to Artlift, based just a stone’s throw from the new development.

Artlift is a creative health charity dedicated to providing projects and courses for individuals in Gloucestershire living with mental health challenges or long-term chronic pain, as well as those living with or recovering from cancer. Offering various arts activities including drawing, painting, arts & crafts and creative writing, the charity focusses on creativity rather than technical skill. Participants can choose a group to suit their schedule and interests, and no previous experience is required – just the desire to get creative.

Karon O’Callaghan, Head of Sales Southwest said: “We chose to donate to Artlift because we truly admire the work they do within Gloucestershire and feel that we share a common goal of enhancing the lives of those within the local community.

“When it comes to designing our developments, it’s vital for us to consider the surrounding landscapes, as well as the nearby facilities that help to support communities and their way of life. Artlift’s ‘Arts on Prescription’ courses and multi-arts projects demonstrate the clear link between creativity and wellbeing.”

The donation is set to help the charity provide materials for participants to use in classes.

Speaking of the kind donation, Cath Wilkins, Executive Director of Artlift, said: “Artlift works to provide increasingly needed ‘Arts on Prescription’ services that help adults in Gloucestershire with mental health and other long-term conditions to find and sustain improved health and wellbeing.

“The donation from St. Modwen Homes will make a significant positive impact on a small local charity like Artlift, with our specially trained artists and dedicated volunteers.”
