Our favourite places to shop

For the time being the places where we live are becoming more than just homes. We’re working, schooling and exercising, within the same spaces, and we’re looking at the same four walls day in day out.

It’s not surprising that this isolation is creating a spike in home improvement, with people getting out into their gardens to freshen up flower beds, giving their spare rooms a fresh new look, or transforming living rooms into home offices.

So we’ve put together a few of our favourite places to shop for interiors that may give you the inspiration you may need to help make your house a home.

Wayfair (the best all-rounder)

Sometimes referred to as the ‘Amazon’ of homeware, 2019 felt like the year that Wayfair took off. With recent campaigns starring celebrities like Lorraine Kelly and Kelly Clarkson, Wayfair has gone from one of the internets best-kept secrets to the first stop for homeowners looking to kit out their living spaces.

Bringing together stylish products from a portfolio of diverse brands, Wayfair pretty much has furniture for every taste and almost every interior design scheme. And with everything from beds, tv cabinets to lighting, it is a one-stop-shop for the whole home.

H&M Home (chic, contemporary style with eco-credentials)

Though it’s more widely known as a fashion retailer, H&M started producing homeware textiles in 2009. Ten years later, it opened its first dedicated homeware store in the UK, and have consistently impressed us with its evolving homeware designs. With a huge following on Instagram, it’s become a go-to for aspiring bloggers and influencers. Fabrics and accessories are its forte, but we also love its selection of contemporary lighting and gorgeous planters.

From a style point of view, think chic seasonal trends, botanical influences and a signature focus on eco-conscious materials.

Urban Outfitters (fun, trend-led, youthful pieces)

Another retailer more known for its clothing offering, Urban Outfitters has a fantastic homeware section on its dedicated website. Just like its clothing, the general style of Urban Outfitters is very chic and trend-led, with a particular emphasis on bohemian influences and natural, rustic material finishes.

Right now, it’s the perfect place for a floral fix, and if you love bamboo, it’s the place to be.

Dot Maison (best for luxury designer brands)

A family-owned business, Dot Maison focuses on high-quality home fashion designer brands. Dotmaison draws on the expert experience of contributors and journalists from Elle Decoration, You Interiors, Vogue and Sunday Times Magazine, meaning its at the forefront of emerging trends.

Its also stated that at the moment they are shipping a usual and don’t have any issue with their supply-chain.

La Redoute

Say bonjour to our first French fancy with La Redoute. Kind of the French answer to Ikea, La Redoute has a super modern array of furniture, accessories and even appliances. The French influence runs deep, and if you need well-made, slightly eclectic mid-century modern designs, it’s certainly the place to go.

If you’re looking for bargains, there are options to be had, but they also sell quality, solid pieces of furniture, which carry an equally solid price tag. Wait for the sales and discount codes, as with La Redoute, there’s always an offer around the corner.

Before we say au revoire to our French picks, we’ll quickly tell you about Maison du Monde. Definitely a hidden gem, Maison du Monde is a treasure trove of inspiring interior inspiration and sticks to some key concepts to keep you on-trend. Stock is frequently renewed, and the team showcase seven clearly considered styles/themes, so there is something for everyone.

Above all, there are some really affordable and unique pieces, which means whatever your budget you can put together a cohesive scheme by purchasing a few items from one of their proposed trend edits.
