Sally Fletcher and her fiance David had been looking for a new home for two years before they found their dream property at Glan Llyn in Newport, South Wales. After all, they had to make sure it was perfect for their two-year-old daughter, Scarlett, too.
“Living at Glan Llyn is like permanently being on holiday! We go for family walks in the evening to see the ducks, chat with the neighbors, and have everything we need right on our doorstep.
“Before choosing our four-bedroom ‘David’ house (nicely named after my fiance!), we’d seen an awful lot of properties that just weren’t right. It wasn’t until we visited Glan Llyn that we found a new build development where the houses didn’t feel like they’d all been built on top of each other.
“When we first walked around the house, there were loads of features that stood out to us. You could tell that it had been designed with families in mind, having a big kitchen at the back and a large living room with plenty of space for Scarlett to play. The floor to ceiling windows made everything seem so much more open too.
“We knew we loved the house but David and I were convinced that it was out of our budget. When we mentioned this to the sales team, they were fantastic and introduced us to the government’s Help to Buy initiative. Lots of people think that it’s just for first-time buyers but you can actually use it when moving up the property ladder too. Thanks to only needing a 5% deposit, we were able to purchase our dream home. I’d recommend the scheme to anyone and encourage everyone to have a chat with a Financial Advisor about Help to Buy before believing a house is out of your budget.
“We never thought we’d be lucky enough to live in a house like this. We’re over the moon and can’t wait to see Scarlett grow up here.”
